ELI5: What is capital and how does it work?

Main Post: ELI5: What is capital and how does it work?

Top Comment: Capital is money you use to make money. For example, say you are a farmer. You own a tractor, which you use to grow crops. The tractor is capital. Now say you sell the tractor for $10,000, that $10,000 is capital. You can use it to buy something that will make you money. Now you use the $10,000 to buy an oven. You now use that oven to bake bread, which you sell. That oven is capital. Now you sell that oven and use the money to pay tuition at a community college where you learn how to program software. That knowledge is capital. You use that knowledge to program software, which you sell.

Is Capital.com a trusted Broker

Main Post:

I have my suspicions wether Capital.com is a trusted broker or not but it is featured on TradingView so I’d assume so it’s pretty legit. I want to hear your experiences with it, specifically with-drawl process and so on .

Top Comment: Capital.com is a CFD broker. Basically I wouldn't use CFD brokers. CFDs are OTC products and usually you as a client trade against the broker. As a result, you lose money in the long run. It's not without reason that CFD brokers are required by law to place warnings on their websites. At capital.com, for example, it says: "CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 81.40% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money."

Capital.com - Sketchy at Best, Scam at Worst

Main Post:

So I’ve been looking into Capital . com for a bit now, and from what I’ve gathered here and from the forex and eupersonalfinance sub, a lot of people are having trouble making withdrawals. The reviews don’t inspire much confidence either (it’s a pretty bad mix of fake reviews and authentic but worrying ones), and I even read that someone here was being asked really personal information they didn’t want to share because they tried to withdraw some money.

I also came across this Capital . com deep dive (https://youtu.be/ICWZj6g4myA) where the guy talks about a bunch of the same withdrawal issues I’ve seen mentioned here. And what inspired the withdrawal in the first place was Capital . com charging him with some crazy overnight fees on unleveraged trades. It’s just a mess.

The withdrawal process was a nightmare that took him months, and the excuses the customer service rep were giving him were pretty sketchy (like weird conflicting info, saying he can only withdraw from this funding source but when he tried to withdraw from that source, CSR made another excuse, etc).

All this to say, be careful with Capital and CFD platforms in general. There's clearly a lot of sketchy things going on behind the scenes.

Top Comment: Forex = Scam. That was the buzz word before crypto came to town. There are no online investor groups they are all scams. At no point were you involved with any investing, it was always just sending the scammers money. Any money they sent you back was to make you think it was legit.

How risky is it? This is the only trading way in my country

Main Post:

I will be very grateful for some honest opinion and advices on that

Top Comment:

The only way to trade in your country is with 20:1 leverage and 5% margin on CFDs? Damn! I personally wouldn’t invest using that platform.

If it’s just trading and you can reduce that leverage ratio to suit your risk tolerance then maybe, but it still seems like that platform is out to take your money.
